Deep Learning in the Brain

(Deep) Neural Networks have been inspired by the brain since their inception. They have become incredibly powerful and continue to leverage insights from neuroscientists. But how biologically plausible are deep learning algorithms really? Is this what the brain does? Are we missing something fundamental from our algorithms?

In this talk, Dr Sebastian Bodenstein and Talieson Beynon, core developers of the Wolfram Mathematica Deep Learning framework, will be presenting some work they have done in the domain of bio-plausible deep learning algorithms during the IBRO-Simons Computational Neuroscience Imbizo 2019 (https://imbizo.africa).
